The Stag Dark Moon Ritual

  • Dittmar Park 1009 West Dittmar Road Austin, TX, 78748 United States (map)

The Stag Moon marks the first dark moon following the Winter Solstice, a time when the cold and darkness still hold sway, but the returning light begins to outshine the night. This is a moment to honor the shift in energy and celebrate the gradual return of the sun. As the light grows stronger, heralding its full arrival at Beltane, we too embrace the promise of transformation. The stag, symbolizing change and renewal, guides us as we prepare for a season of growth and vitality—both in the world around us and within ourselves. Join us in welcoming this time of rebirth and positive change

SPECIFICS:
- Located at Dittmar Park. We'll be on the west side of the park near the huge oak tree.
- Within ritual, we will be calling Celtic deities to aid us in our working.
- There will be a time for everyone to individually give to patron deities, passed loved ones, spirit guides, etc. (Need not be Celtic)
- There will be the occasional blessing of an expecting mother and child.
- Ritual ends anywhere from 7:30 - 8pm
- Kids of all ages are welcome. We only ask that you remove them from the circle if they are being disruptive. Some kids are super entertained by ritual and some are bored to tears; first-timers should definitely be aware of this. Occasional Q&A whispers between you and the child during ritual are not considered disruptive.

WHAT WE DO:
We're performing Indo-European folk magics in preparation for the month to come. We perform charms, poetry, divination, spells, chanting, and worship pacts with spirits and gods. You can come as you are and observe or bring a charm, poem, or offering to an otherworldly entity, be it god, spirit, or honored dead.

WHAT TO WEAR:
Most are in casual dress but ritual dress -- kilts, robes, cloaks, etc. are welcomed.
